Mike Cadwalader, the president of Atlantic Economics, has over twenty years of experience consulting in the electricity industry. He was extensively involved in the development of the markets administered by the New York Independent System Operator, and also participated in restructuring efforts in the PJM Interconnection, Ontario, MISO, New England, and California. He continues to be involved in the development of several of these markets as they evolve to deal with old issues (e.g., markets for installed capacity or mitigation of market power) as well as issues that have gained more prominence recently (e.g., integration of renewable resources and demand response). His clients include ISOs and RTOs, transmission owners, generation owners, and marketers.
Mike graduated summa cum laude with a double major in mathematics and economics from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He also received a master's degree in economics from the University of Rochester, where he was a doctoral student, in 1988, and in 1994, he was awarded an MBA in finance and strategic management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar (top five percent of graduating class).
